Physical Fitness for Special Populations Is Up and Running Improving an individual's level of physical fitness can prevent, remediate, improve, maintain, slow the decline of, or lower the risk of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities. To address this, APTA's Practice Department, based on guidance from the Board and Directors and with assistance from many on staff, has developed Physical Fitness for Special Populations, which can be accessed at http://www.apta.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Physical_Fitness_for_Special_Populations1&Template=/TaggedPage/TaggedPageDisplay.cfm&TPLID=267&ContentID=30270 The information linked through this page provides resources that allow users to ensure that the services they provide, or are planning to provide, meet requirements in all keys areas, such as state law, documentation, professional policy, and more. These pages are intended to improve users' ability to appropriately increase the provision of services that have a positive impact on the physical fitness of patients and clients at all levels of acuity and in all settings. We encourage components to visit and link to these pages from your own Web sites and to share this exciting program with your members. For more details, see tomorrow's issue of PT Bulletin Online or contact APTA's Practice Department at ext 3176 or Lisa Culver at lisaculver@apta.org or at ext 3172. |
